And my parents signed me up for an international school where the main language is English. I got comfortable speaking English and used English as my main source of speaking. But at every week when we have a family gathering, all my cousins and family members speak Arabic, which made it hard for me to understand and catch up with them. They made fun of me because I could understand my mother language which made me feel unpleasant and unsafe in my family gatherings. The language barrier was I used to speak English and my family members used to speak Arabic. How I overcome it is by being enrolled in classes, language classes, and try to talk to my parents about it and use my mother tongue language on a daily basis. And I used… So I started to catch up with them and I used to do homeworks, watch videos. This helped me gain an experience which made me feel like not an outsider anymore. I’ve become more brave, more overcoming and understandable in these type of situations. My message is never to give up and learn other languages to understand other people. Even if you weren’t born with that language, it is important to talk, to speak your mother native language. help me reduce my stress, communicate with my families easier and understand each other in a specific way where nobody gets to be stressed or felt out.
