Generally speaking, it can be clearly seen that cars remained the most popular amongst all types of travel. Also, the table suggests that more than half of all transport declined in popularity over the observed period.
More specifically, the number of car usage experienced a significant increase, going from 3500km in 1977 to 7100km in 2007. Likewise, taxi also showed a dramatic rise, quadrupling from 200km to 800km. Moreover, train figures increased by 100km, reaching a thousand kilometres in 2007.
In contrast to this, the average walking distance dropped by 100km, going from 400 to 300 during the 3 decades.Bus usage decreased from 800km to 500km. Furthermore, motorcycles and bicycles went from 100km to 90km and 80km respectively.
