While many people support that for a leader intelligence is a priority, I would say that there are more qualities that are as important as intelligence, At the same time I do not resist society’s opinion.
To begin with, knowledge itself is extremely essential for a leader, since he sometimes is the planner and even a teacher, and of course he should have something to teach. For instance even the school presidents are selected due to their academic performance. But I can surely confirm that education without a skill is not that significant. The reason is that if a person cannot express what is he/she is meaning, they can convey the wrong idea.
On the other hand, there are several aspects that contradict the public opinion. For example: emotional intelligence, responsibility, confidence, communication skills and the ability to make decisions, motivate and inspire a team, and not be afraid to take responsibility for results, these are the features that are so vital in a leader. But it also can be about an employer, director or a manager. Regarding the managers, they demonstrate flexibility, make well-considered decisions, motivate and inspire the team, are not afraid of results, and continuously improve their skills.
As a conclusion, personally I would say that anyone leading a part of society should definitely have or gain these qualities. And of course the progress and success of a company or a subordinate are in the hands of a leader.
