Overall, USA remained the same position throughout the provided period, while other countries experienced fluctuations throughout the provided period. Furthermore, Japan had the highest prices, while others put the prices closer to each other.
To begin with, Japanese markets sold bananas for 1.80 dollars per kilogram in the first year, and in the second year the cost of bananas reached its peak with nearly 3.00 dollars per kilogram, By the following year, it experienced a dramatic fall, accounting for 2.00 dollars per kilogram. From 1997, the costs rise moderately, making up 2.25 dollars per kilogram until 1999. It was not for long because the next year, the prices started to experience the decline to 1.70 dollars per kilo. However, by the end of the period, the prices went up significantly, reaching 2.65 dollars per kilogram of bananas. Overall, the costs in Japan experienced the most considerable fluctuations.
Looking at the details of other countries, France did not experience any changes in the price of bananas until 1997, it was 1.70 dollars per kilo, while cost of bananas in Germany started to fell in the second year, accounted for 1.25 dollars. In USA, the prices experienced noticeable increase, reaching 1.20 dollars per kg and after 2 years it slightly went down to just a dollar per kilogram. France and Germany had the similar trends, both of them experienced increase then decrease and once more rise in prices all in just 3 years. From 1998 until the end, USA remained steadily at 1.20 dollars per kilo. France experienced a sharp fall in prices before climbing up to 1.45 dollars, while Germany decided to stay constant just like USA and accounted for 1.25 dollars per kilo of bananas at the end of the period.
