It is said that, interview is the most reliable method of choosing an employee. Relatively I agree that interview is an essential part of employment process however, in my opinion there are other nuances that are more important.
From one point of view, an interview is the best method to analyze one’s abilities and define if they are suitable for what the job requires. For instance, if employers wouldn’t organize a meeting for a job applier they would know if the person is actually a professional for there is no guarantee the applier is telling the truth. Whereas during an interview employer can tell if the applier is a professional by the confidence of their speech and by their body language. During such interviews employers can also evaluate a person’s psychological state and define if they will be able to adapt to the workplace and handle the workload.
From the other point of view, there are other not less important factors that also require attention. Most people tend to feel anxious during an interview as their future may depend on it and as a result they lose the opportunity to apply for the job they wanted. Commonly in this cases employers consider that the applier doesn’t have enough knowledge in this field and refuse to employ him. In many cases you can’t tell by an interview the extent of a person’s ability, their performance during an interview can be absolutely hopeless while in fact they are incredibly good at their job.
In conclusion I can say that while interview seems to be the most effective way to choose an employee it can also have its disadvantages and be deceitful in some cases.
