The three charts illustrates Australia’s trade with China, Japan, and the United States from 2004 to 2009. Units are measured in Australian dollar.
Overall, it is clear that Australia’s export trade with Japan peaked after 2005 and approximately before 2008, as it rose up from 40 dollars to almost 60 dollars before it plummeted, while import trade peaked with China between 2005 and 2008, where Australia imported goods worth above 20 dollars until almost 40 dollars.
Within trading with Japan, Australia’s import in 2002 did fall, however during 2005 and 2008, the numbers leveled off from around 20 dollars to above 40 dollars. Meanwhile, Australia’s export trade with China started off in 2002 with nearly hitting 40 dollars, then the numbers declined steadily.
Australia’s trade with the United States is fairly stable, as the numbers didn’t have significant increases nor decreases, but near the year 2008, both numbers of import and export has steadily risen up.
