Overall, mobile phone usage experienced significant growth during the period, whereas Fixed-line usage increased only slightly.
In 1994, the percentage of mobile phone users was around 0.06%, while approximately 1.7 percent of people used fixed-line phones. Both figures increased gradually until 2000. After that, mobile phones overtook fixed-line phones in the year 2001, reaching 3%, while fixed-line usage remained at approximately the same level.
From 2002 onwards, mobile phone usage rose sharply, climbing to 4% in 2002 and around 6% in 2003. In final year, the figure peaked at approximately 8.8%.
By contrast, fixed-line usage grew slowly throughout the period, increasing from 1.7% in 1994 to around 3.1% in 2004.
