The table illustrates attendance of different groups in the UK cultural event in seven categories between the years 1986-7 to 2001-2.
Overall, cinema has the highest proportion of attendees over the period given, while contemporary dance is recorded as least. Classical music remained same throughout all the years and other categories such as art galleries, ballet, plays and opera steadily increased.
In terms of cinema, it is recorded as the most attendent category, starting with a proportion of 31 in the years 1986/87, with the gradual increased in the remaining years and recorded with the number of 57% in the years 2001/2002, while the plays show that 23% of people attended in the years 1986/87 with 1% increased in the years 1996/97 and then remained the same percent from the years 1999 to 2001, until the year 2002 raised again with same proportion as in the year 1996/97.
On the other hand, art galleries show increase of 1% over the period and recorded as total 22% in the years 2001/2002. Ballet and opera remained the same number with a proportion of 6% in the years 2001/2002, while contemporary dance recored as the lowest percentage of attendees started with a 4% in the years 1986/87 and only increased with a 1% over the period and recorded as total of 5% in the years 2001/2002.
