Differences between countries are becoming less noticeable each year, as people around the world increasingly share similar lifestyles. While this trend brings certain benefits, I believe there are also disadvantages as well.
On one hand, the world has become more convenient. Brands and global media are shared, and other trends make moving to other countries feel less worrying and overwhelming. You’re not expected to land somewhere new and feel out of place, there’s usually something familiar that reminds you of your hometown. These could be food, clothes, technology, and so on. Additionally, people with completely different personalities can connect due to said reasons earlier.
Yet, there’s also a disadvantage. As everything starts to look the same, culture slowly fades away and people start to look past it. It’s like the world is growing uniform and different places lose their uniqueness and charm. Additionally, small local businesses struggle to keep up with globally seen international companies, and that may often lead to a closure for the small businesses.
In conclusion, although global similarity creates comfort and connection, it also contributes to cultural loss and economic challenges. Therefore, I believe the disadvantages of this trend are more significant than its benefits.
