The line graph compares 4 different countries (China, the USA, Russia, and India) in terms of their total length of railway tracks.
Overall, the total length of railway tracks in the USA and Russia had been larger than others despite steady decline while railway track length in China and India increased consistently.
In 1980, the USA’s railway system was by far the longest, at approximately 250,000 km. However, this figure decreased continually over 30 years, reaching roughly 220,000 km. Similarly, Russia’s railway system was one of the longest and this trend decreased from 150,000 km to around 135,000 km over the same period. However, this decline was smaller than the USA’s.
By comparison, total length of railway track in China and India grew regularly. India’s railway system was about 40,000 km and this figure increased steadily by 2010, reaching roughly 90,000 km. Similarly, China’s railway system was the shortest, at approximately 25,000 km. This also increased repeatedly until the end of the period and overtook India in 1990.
