The debate on whether learning a foreign language is only beneficial for moving or working in another country or there are some other reasons to learn a second language. From my perspective, to learn a second language is beneficial for working or studying in abroad countries, however advantages outweigh disadvantages.
Primarily, individuals find a second language fruitful when they wants to visit another country for study or work. For instance, now-a-days many people are learning German language in order to get enrolled themselves in German universities and to secure some better jobs there as it is the demand of approximately every job.
Secondly, to learn a language of a country means to make yourself aware of the culture and norms of that country. When a person is moving to a country and he is trying to learn the language of that country. This learning will help him in surviving in that country. He will know about the beliefs, tradition, literature, and rules of the country. It is quoted that ” A language presents the culture and norms of a particular country”. It could be exemplify that learning a Japanese could give a person deep insight to a Japanese literature and country’s renowned wisdom and achievements in various fields of technology, literature, and arts. Furthermore, learning a language broadens an individual’s perspective and pursuit to some scholarly material.
It seems to me that although there are some pros and cons of learning a second language, however benefits outweigh drawbacks.
To sum up, although learning and to get knowledge about a second language is beneficial for an individual to move abroad for study or work, however we cannot ignore the other reasons of learning a second language.
