The given bar chart illustrates the percentage of people engaging in various sports in the UK in 2008.
Overall, the highest share of males in the survey played soccer and cricket, while the opposite was true in the case of their female counterparts. Conversely, females preferred netball the most; however, this sport was the least appealing to males.
To elaborate, an impressive 24% of the examined males participated in soccer, compared to a mere 5% of females. Meanwhile, the figures for other sports and cricket were both roughly twice as high for males as for females, while combining table tennis, tennis and basketball shows that participation was also considerably higher among males than females.
Regarding sports less popular with boys, while 4% and 22% of females engaged in jogging and swimming, only around 3% and 14% of males did the same. The most pronounced difference was seen in the figures for males and females played netball, with a gap of 24% being recorded.
