The diagram illustrates the process of creation and transformation different types of rocks taking place in the earth’s rock cycle. There are approximately 9 stages which form 3 types of rock-sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. It presents how not only things below Earth’s surface, but also above are fundamental in transforming.
Igneous rock starts its creation from magma, an extremely hot rock fluid. When magma cools down, it experiences crystallization and provides for this special type of rock a slow uplift to the Surface.
Once rocks reach above, they go through weathering and erosion. The resulting particles are transported and deposited as sedimentation. Over a period, rocks undergo compaction and cementation forming sedimentary types.
When sedimentary and igneous rocks are buried deep in the ground, high temperature and pressures play a crucial role in transformation. It makes particles chandge their outlook into metamorphic rocks. In this case, some rocks may be pushed in completely different way and undergo melting, which soon will be a part of magma.
