Many people think that when young people commit crime, they are punished by jail. I strongly agree with this view for two reasons.
The first reason is that teens must be responsible for their actions. For example, when they drive the car then an accident happens, there are injuries and someone is dead by car crash because they drink alcohol. Teens might think about their mistakes during jail.
The second reason is that if they are sent to prison. They may want to avoid the second mistake. This is because when they are in prison. They may waste time and lose many opportunities. Also, they may need to stop going to school and delay their graduation. They may also lose opportunities for work in the future. Moreover, they will lose their freedom because they cannot go anywhere and are controlled twenty-four hours by prison guards. Because of these reasons, they will feel afraid of going back to prison again.
However, some countries avoid imprisoning the young and use another way to punish the juvenile. They believe imprisoning cannot reduce crimes and everybody could get the opportunity to be better. Moreover, because young people are taken care by their parents, the parents should be responsible for the crime, not the young people.
In conclusion, imprisoning young people may not decrease violence in society. But I believe that when they are in jail. They will learn from their mistakes and feel afraid of committing crimes again.
