The diagram illustrates the manufacturing process, starting from sheep
Overall, the process consists of nine stages, commencing with the rearing of sheep until they reach maturity, and culminating in the production of various finished goods.
The initial stage focusses on the collection of raw materials. Sheep are fostered until they reach maturity to provide a thick layer of fleece, which is then harvested using specialized shearing machinery. Because fleece contains numerous impurities, it needs to be thoroughly cleaned with water to remove dirt, grease, and other contaminants. Once cleaned, the damp wool is transferred to a drying machine to completely eliminate excess moisture.
Next, the wool is carded and spun. This step helps to remove any short, bad pieces and turns the wool into long, thin strands. Afterwards, the wool is made into balls of yarn. At this stage, the yarn can either be utilized directly for knitting individual items or woven into fabric for the production of commercial goods, such as sweaters and rugs.
