The line graph provides information on the proportion of energy generated from coal in Sweden, France, Denmark and Germany over 15 years from 1995 to 2010.
Overall, it can be seen that over the period as a whole the percentage of coal energy declined in all four areas by the end of the period. Denmark and Germany experienced a significant drop, whereas Sweden and France remained steady throughout the timeframe.
In 1995 Denmark showed the highest point at 60% in the graph and fell rapidly to 20% in 2004. Over 3 years between 2004 and 2007 figures stayed constant before falling to 10% in 2010. Meanwhile Germany started at about 55% showing a slightly less figure than Denmark at the beginning. The numbers decreased dramatically during the whole period and hit the low of approximately 5% in 2007. At the end of the timeframe Germany’s proportions rose to more than 15% in 2010.
On the contrary, Sweden at 35% and France at 30% at the beginning of the period didn’t witness any dramatic changes and fell slowly throughout 15 years from 1995. In 1998 the proportion of coal energy in Sweden declined to 30% and in France to 25% then remained steady the most of the period despite some slight decreases. At the end of the timeframe France stayed at 25% and Sweden at about 28% demonstrating the highest result by 2010.
