The maps delineate the layout of the art gallery ground floor in 2015 in comparison to its present day.
Overall, the art gallery has undergone comprehensive development, with a focus on improving walkability while adding more function rooms.
In 2005, the art gallery primarily focused on sticking into its traditional purposes of exhibiting, with 3 medium sized exhibition rooms taking up most of the space on the right side and 1 major exhibition room on the left of the gallery next to the entrance. Visitors were firstly greeted with a substantial receptionist located in the center of the gallery, perfect for any assistance needed. The stairs were placed right behind the receptionist, while a gallery office stood on the receptionist’s left side if. Lastly, a cafe was put on the left side of the stairs serving as a place for recharge or rehydrate.
In the current layout, the art gallery focuses more on experience rather than just exhibiting. Firstly, it can be seen that the number of exhibition rooms was reduced from 4 to just 3 as the biggest room of exhibition room 4 was removed. Filling in for the empty space of exhibition room 4 is the children’s area (which serves as a place to entertain children while the adults enjoy the art) and a temporary exhibition for any emergency situation. The cafe is replaced with a small gallery office, while the freed up place by the gallery office reposition is filled in with a simple walkable place with a vending machine replacing the cafe’s purpose. Finally, instead of just stairs, the art gallery added a lift as a secondary choice to get between floors while the receptionist is moved closer to the entrance for walkability improvement.
