The pie charts compare the proportions of online retail sectors in Canada over a 5 years period.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that at the beginning of the period electronics and appliances made up the highest part of the chart and video games contributed the least to the online sales. In comparison, at the end of the period food and beverage become the largest retail sector and the lowest sales was made by home furnishings.
Electronics and appliances was the main sector of online sales in the first year and it accounted for a one third. Home furnishings ranked second, making up a quarter of the total. Meanwhile, food and beverage made up only 22%, while video games was the least significant part of the online sectors at 18%.
In 2005, food and beverage experienced a steady increase to almost one third, overtaking electronics and appliances. Similarly, video game sales increased by 5%. By contrast, the proportion of electronics and appliances witnessed a slow decline to 30%. Another notable decrease was seen by home furnishings, which ranked last at 15%.
