The bar chart demonstrates the share of people’s overall spending on different goods and services in a particular European country between 1998 and 2008.
From an overall perspective, There was a rise in people’s expenditure. Electronic goods and clothing recorded as the highest spending in both years. In contrast, the categories with lower figures undergone a significant decrease in 2008.
In 1998, Electronic goods accounted for the largest expenditure, and there was just 4 percentage points between spending on electronic goods 16% and spending on clothing 12%. Spending on holidays and eating out were at around 8% and 6% respectively. Moreover, the figures of magazines/newspaper and going to the cinema were the same about 3%, in that order.
By 2008, the percentages had changed dramatically. The difference between 2 figures was decreased at around 5%. The proportion of people spending on clothing increased to 18%, and that of electronic goods rocketed at 20%. The expenditure on eating out remained unchanged at 6%, turning to holidays, the figure was undergone a slight fall almost 3%. Ultimately, the figures of spending on newspaper/magazines and going to the cinema were dropped at the same 1%.
