Nuclear energy is being used in the contemporary era for numerous purposes. It is convenient and relatively inexpensive. Furthermore, this energy does not have adverse effects on the environment unless a power plant is destroyed, which can cause a devastating impact on the communities. Additionally, nuclear weapons are seen as a form of security for the protection of a country.
I largely agree with the huge number of benefits of nuclear energy; one is generating electricity without producing carbon emissions as compared to oil. Nuclear energy power plants produce affordable electricity. For example, countries like France rely heavily on nuclear power plants to supply electricity to the millions of houses without contributing in global warming. Second benefit is that a country that attains nuclear weapons is often safer than the country that does not. Adversaries are unlikely to attack a country that possesses nuclear weapons.
Every innovation has two sides: one is positive and the other is negative. Nuclear energy has hazardous drawbacks. If a nuclear power plant is destroyed it will release an enormous amount of toxins and radiation across the environment, spreading through the water and air. This disaster will cause fatal and deadly reactions on human beings, such as cancer, which will affect subsequent generations. Moreover, if a country is attacked with nuclear weapons, it will wipe out an entire civilization and leave lasting effects on the soil and its people. For example, in the case of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, people are still suffering from the after effects of nuclear radiation produced by the bombs detonated decades ago.
Overall, nuclear energy has countless advantages; however, it requires strict management to be handled safely. In history, there are many cases regarding nuclear energy incidents, and a large number of them occurred because of careless handling.
