Band 5+: These days, more and more people are going to other countries for significant periods of time, either to find a job or to study. There are clearly many benefits to doing this, but people who live abroad can also face some difficulties. Disscuss the advantages and disadvantages of living and working in foreign country. Give reason from for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Most of the people especially young adults are looking for the opportunities related to either an academic or a career outside of the home countries are dramatically increased in recent days. Many people believe that living abroad can provide so much beneficial while others are interacting with challenges during their stay outside of the host countries. Although there may be both many advantages and disadvantages to do so, in this essay, I will discuss about some reasons to move out as well as some difficulties to be overcome living in overseas.

From educational aspects, studying at the foreign countries can broaden our horizons. For instance, we may have the chance to attend international exchange programs that the international universities are expanding their partnership to offer more opportunities than ever to students to explore the diverse educational opportunities. This made us more cultural understanding & networking opportunities. We can apply these in our future workplace once we finished our academic period. Moreover, living abroad can provide better quality of life. Take Myanmar people as example. Thousands of Myanmar people move to European countries as these countries provide better work-life balance with attractive package to fulfill their dreams. In addition to this, our qualification and language skills will improve with the knowledge and experience that we gain from working abroad.

On the other hand, culture shock is a major problem of staying overseas. Most of the people can face with language barrier and difficult to cope with their culture, food and lifestyle. We have to scratch from the start if we are in a new place. From psychological point of view, this may lead to isolation and feeling disorientation resulted from not knowing everything in new environment. Furthermore, it is hard to create new friends and right place to fit in. It may take some time to adapt in new place.

All things are considered, starting life in new place is not an easy decision. We need to weight up the pros of better education and better life style and cons of culture shock & isolation. From my perspective, I personally outweigh benefits especially for better education to drawbacks of staying abroad.
