The illustration below provides information about how containers of plastic and glass are recycled.
It is a cyclical process that includes several steps. It begins by collecting glass and plastic containers and ends by producing a new product. This is achieved by turning glass and plastic back to raw materials so that, it could again be made into useful commercial items.
First of all, the process starts by collecting glass and plastic containers. Then, it is transported to processing plants by garbage trucks. Following this, both glass and plastic containers are separately sorted. Glass is grouped according to its color and plastic according to its thickness and quality. Subsequently, the glass is crushed while the plastic is bundled. After bundling, the plastic undergoes shredding. Later, both glass and plastic are washed. Then, plastic is melted and reshaped using a single machine, whereas glass requires separate machines for melting and reshaping. Eventually, the old glass and plastic products are reproduced into new resourceful items.
