To be specific, in 1997, almost half of the total water was used by the food industry (48%), which was followed by the household sector with 19% of water utilization. Manufacturing and the service sector had similar volumes of water usage, at 13% and 15%, respectively. On the other hand, the building industry used just 5% of total water, which was the least among all the given categories.
Regarding water use in 2007, the food industry still dominated the majority with 41%, whereas a quarter of the total water was used by the service sector in the same year. Additionally, the manufacturing and building sectors slightly minimized the utilization of water by just using 11% and 2% water, respectively, compared to 1997, while water used in households grew marginally by 2%.
