The image below illustrates how companies produce carbonated drinks. There are five stages in the photo, starting from cleaning water to packaging the product and send it to supermarkets.
The first step in manufacturing sparkling beverages is water cleaning. After passing raw water through filters and adding softeners and chemicals, water goes across a pump which pushes the water to electric heater where the second stage takes place. Once the water has been heated and evaporated, it goes through a cooling pipe to a tank where carbon dioxide is added to the water.
When carbon dioxide has been added to the water, the third stage starts where the carbonated water is stored in a mixing tank in order to add colouring, syrup and flavour to the water. In the next step, this combination goes through a second filter which is used to separate the fizzy water into bottles and cans. Finally, both products can be packed and dispatched onto lorries to supermakets
