Animal testing is part of scientific development especially in the health and beauty industry. However, it is a controversial issue in society. Many people believe that animal testing has many drawbacks instead of its benefits. In my perspective, those activities can lead to many negative effects like environmental issues and less accuracy so I do not think that it is a good choice for developing scientists.
Scientists need something to test on their research to develop a product/ formula that can give advantage to human lives as well as animals. Only animals are very similar to human structures, functions, and organs so that using animals as a testing tool is very reliable until now. For instance, many beauty and health industries need to test their products first on animals before people use it to make sure it is safe. Moreover, there are many diseases in this world that still do not have their medicine. Like there is some cancer that still does not have its drugs and the researchers still research it using animals as testers. The finding of this could have a big impact on society especially for the cancer sufferers. Additionally, animals are things that are easy to find that is why researchers prefer to use them. Scientists use rabbits as their tester on their formula drugs or beauty products that they created which rabbits are easy to find and to breed. It makes their work faster and less costly. However, animal testing has so many disadvantages as well.
Talking about the negative impacts of animal testing, there are several. First, animal testing violates the right. Animals are living things who have emotions and feelings. They can feel hurt as humans even sometimes they can cry. So,consider them as living things. That means we should take care of them and not be cruel to them. Other than that, some people believe that using animals as testers is less accurate. In fact, humans and animals still have a different structure and organs. So, using them for developing research is cruel and also still not accurate. Moreover, it leads to environmental issues. Many animals that are used in the lab will die and their bodies will be thrown to the garbage. It causes accumulation of rubbish and the smells bother people. Additionally, Some animal activists are very resistant to using animals as testers. They suggest that with technology advances scientists can create chips to build things that are similar to human function and structure. So that they can stop using animals to develop scientists.
To sum up, animal testing is easy to do and can give a huge impact to human life especially for developing medicine and beauty products, however the drawbacks that make it outweigh the benefits. It costs to break the right, less accurately, and give negative effects to the environment. So, using another alternative is a better option.
