The two maps given below show the current form of a shopping mall called Southside and its proposed expansion.
Overall, it can be seen that the idea is to extend the center along with the parking area to allow for more stores. It is also noticed that major emphasis is given on fashion instead of eateries and other activities.
Currently, Southside Mall consists of a supermarket, a departmental store, cinemas, a noodle shop and a cafe with children’s play area and toilet facilities. To the northeast of the center, there is a golf course followed by a park whereas a fitness center and a car park are seen to the south.
According to the new design, the supermarket, the toilet and the entrance will remain the same. The most significant change will happen in the eastern part where the expansion of the departmental store takes place of the park and the golf course. Inside the mall, a larger number of stores will be built, including fashion boutiques and shoe stores while the departmental store will expand and will have its own entrance. A cosmetic shop and a gift shop will be added along with a beauty salon. To make more room for parking, the fitness center will be demolished and the car park will be extended. It can also be noticed that the cafe will become an information center.
