The diagram illustrates not only the construction of the water-filter but also its function in providing a clean water for drinking purposes. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that there are various stages of filtering water, commencing with uncleaned water and releasing it by the tap for consumption.
To begin with, the water-filter assembly is composed of a plastic barrel and storage drum connected with a long pipe. Initially, contaminated water is released into a plastic barrel with the assistance of a man. In that barrel with a plastic lid and four legs to make it bigger than the storage drum, water is cleaned by 3 main filters: sand at the top, charcoal in the middle, and gravel at the bottom.
In the subsequent process of the filteration, water in the gravel area flows into the storage drum, which has a tap at the bottom, making it ready to drink using a cup to serve.
