Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some individuals argue that it is generic heritage that incline peple to do any sort of crimes while others are convinced of the key role of the unfortune background in shaping violent attitude. This essay will examine both perspectives, and debate that while some traits ,indeed, might be inherited, but it is environment that fosters criminal behaviour afterwards.

Proponents of the genetic predisposition believe that cruel inclinations is encoded in one’s DNA. Some of the psychological anomalies results in aggressive and destructive traits that subsequently passed down from generation to generation. Such tendency means that offender’s offspring highly likely to follow in their parent’s footsteps regardless of their surroundings. It is like an inner voice that you resist or mute. Scientists have discovered special part in the brain that is responsible for the propensity to manslaughter, assault and others kind of criminality. For instance, the most prominent offender in Russia – Andrey Chikatilo who brutally killed a who at least fourty three people, had a son, who also chose wrong side of the law and therefore had criminal records as well, even though father virtually was not involved in his life.

Conversely, advocates of prevailing role of an external factors in desire to break the law, convinced that peer influenca, socio-economic status and family situation determine one’s likehood of engaging in criminal activity. This perspective suggests that if individual lives in unfortune family or in unlawtul environment where even parents set an inappropriate example then he he won’t have any ither way but to humble and accept this lifestyle. Since instilled moral norms in childhood or adopted ideas from friend circle would dramatically affect choices and life goals. For example, gypsies, as a nation, notorious for their trade namely selling drugs. Kids in roma’s families look at this illegal way of live and perceive it as adequate path and continue tradition to distribute opiates, since it is the only apparent method to earn money and survive.

In conclusion, while the argument for a genetic predisposition to criminal inclinations is supported by scientific research it is still outweighted by the idea about crucial influence by circumstances and surroudings that ultimately shape the desicion to commit an offence.
