Band 4+: International travel is become cheaper, and countries are opening their doors to more and more tourists. Do the advantages of increase tourism outweight its disadvantages?

Nowadays, traveling is getting cheaper, so most countries decide to open and welcome tourists from abroad. It is clear that countries have opportunities to develop, but also face the drawbacks which has been brought from traveling. In this essay, i will show the disadvantages are higher than the advantages and explain why we have to consider this problem.

Firstly, i want to discuss what benefits countries get from opening to international tourists. The most basic thing is the chance to develop the economy of one country. It is because people usually spend more money on services without careful thinking when they travel new places, these services can be known are accomodation, food, entertainment and so on. For instance, in most Asian countries, tourists from Western usually send tip for any service they experience. Another prospect of international travel is cultural exchange. Tourists from abroad will have chance to explore the features that one country is always proud of. We can see Japan as a perfect example, Japanese is very successful in advertising their culture.whenever we think about this country, we always remember the famous food is sashimi, kimono as the traditional dress, or the most modern technology all over the world. This benefit is only brought from opening to international travelers.

On the other hand, we need to seriously think of the drawbacks from tourism industry. It is clear that traveling has caused pollution, it negatively influenced on the natural environment, and also human habitat. To meet the demand of large number of travelers from abroad, many countries just want to produce as much as possible. It results in the increase of cacbon dioxide, and the litters from food consumption have risen day by day. Not only the bad impact on environment, but also on humans. We can see in 2019, the Covid 19 pandemic broke out in China, for an unspecified reason, it spread to almost all countries in the world. It was believed that all countries are door-opening so people can easily go to other places but don’t know whether they have virus or not.

To conclude, there was always have advantages and disadvantages when opening to international travelers. In addition, tourism has become the most important industry that we can not replace, but the governments must consider the drawbacks and give appropriate solutions to deal with the results
