The line graph compares the amount of money which Americans spent on cell phone, national and international fixed line services from
2001 to 2010. Overall, there was a dramatic change with cell phone services and national fixed-line services, while the other services were not significant changes.
In 2001, an average of nearly 700$ was spent on landline telephone services nationwide
compared to about 200$ for the other two telephone services, international fixed line and cellphone. In the next five years, the average amount spent on national fixed line services dropped significantly by about $200. In contrast, annual spending on cell phone services increased dramatically from $200 to $500. In addition, the figures for international fixed line services remained stable at $300.
In 2006, Americans spent the same money on national fixed line and cell phone services, about $500. From 2006, the amount of money spent for national fixed line service continued to decrease sharply and bottomed out at $400 in 2010. At the same time, the figure for cell phone services peaked at more than $700. With international fixed line service, there were not significant changes during that period.
