Over the past few years, due to a development of technology, the Internet has witnessed a significant change in the method of conveying and receiving information. There are problems of privacy and misinformation resulting from this phenomenon and an appropriate solution should be adopted by service sectors or the government to improve this situation.
It cannot be denied that, besides its benefits, the way information is transmitted and consumed by the Internet has many negative impacts on individuals. This issue is associated with the problem of privacy, which not a few people easily become a victim of cybercrime when using the Internet. To be specific, the Internet allows users to conveniently update information about different aspects of our society such as health, education or daily life moments. Unfortunately, the security of such a virtual environment is limited and not guaranteed, which facilitates hackers to access personal accounts or manipulate forms of online fraud. As a result, important information is stolen and even impersonated. In addition, this phenomenon has also engendered the issue of false information. An explanation for this risk lies in a great amount of details conveyed on social networking sites, which has not been censored and selected but still widely spread to people. Consequently, if individuals do not have enough awareness and alertness, they may be deceived by such information.
Fortunately, several measures could be taken to alleviate this problem. From a network security team perspective, they should create a specific system, which is likely to enhance security for private accounts or prevent inaccurate information. Specifically, they will reduce acts of fraud and theft of personal information and enact laws to censor posts to create a safe virtual space for users. In addition, the government needs to provide education about how to protect personal information and not be led by fake or toxic news when using the Internet. Hence, inhabitants may have enough awareness to share and consume details safely. For example, many schools have organised discussion sessions or presentations to educate students about how to use the Internet properly and not be affected by toxic information or cyber violence at flag-raising sessions or group activities.
In conclusion, it is clear that this trend has various impacts on many Internet users and steps need to be taken by the government or network security team to tackle this problem.
