In the contemporary societal landscape, the number of people spending time on their hobbies have significantly dropped. There are numerous reasons for occurrence of this situation and consist of manifold detrimental effects on an individual and society in general. This can become a major hindrance that requires comprehensive explanation.
Fewer people are devoting time toward hobbies nowadays that has created an ongoing deliberation regarding manifold reasons to back up their stance. Firstly, the incessant competition at workplace and other sectors have created a need to excel in every field. This fosters an attribute to focus on set goals and leaves no personal time for an individual. For example, for school going students, parents mostly focus on academic achievements and ignores extra-curricular activities. Secondly, individuals have aspirations that are way too unrealistic and impossible to be accomplished and because of this continuous failure depression and anxiety are induced, ultimately restricting willingness for hobbies. Therefore, the participation rate in hobbies are declining rapidly.
The dearth of hobby involvement has surfaced numerous issues for the individual and society. This problem has fostered medical condition like depression, anxiety, etc. and have affected various attributes among individuals. Folks have lost their creative ability and it has affected their intellectual quotient as well. On the other hand, society have faced similar issues but at a larger scale. Moreover, as it is commonly said, ‘Empty mind is a devils workshop’ people with excessive time to spare has led to a spike in eccentric issues like crimes, suicide rates, etc.
In conclusion, it is imperative that the hobbies are necessary to facilitate overall holistic growth of an individual and society. Therefore, more time must be spared for untraditional activities as it will provide complete growth and will give a break from the routine lifestyle.
