Overall, there are six stages in the process of uranium.
The first stage is whereby uranium is being mined from the earth using heavy machines. Uranium is mined as ore, and then on the second stage it is then converted and enriched to make U-235 fuel pellets. The U-235 fuels are used to power generators and convert the energy into electricity which will be used for street lights, cooking, and etc. This fuel can be used for atleast more than three years.
After about four years the fuel is used up. At level four thats when the fuel is being put into two groups, the one that can be recycled and the other one that has to be thrown away. On stage five some spent fuel can be re-processed and re-used for generators. Finally, the some of the spent fuel that cannot be reprocessed is stored in big containers get sealed and buried.
