There is a notion that university education should be free of charge to everyone, regardless of income. I firmly disagree with the given statement based on 2 reasons. Firsly, it would lead to economic crisis in a country. Secondly, by doing so, people will be dismotivated to surpass their peers for better standards.
Initially, If university education becomes free, a country might become financially instable; as a result, the country may become poorer. That is because nations gain certain amount of money from universities annualy, since there are a number of students who pay tuitions. This can be clearly seen from the statistics taken from responsible organizations. According to statics 45% of country’s income comes from universities. This fact enables me to think that free university education results in economic problems.
Another point to consider is that, it is common at the present for individuals to do their best for free education, since some of them might not afford or want to make their parents proud. However, if university education is in no charge, people would be unwilling to surpass others due to the fact that ,in any case, the university education will be served free. This reflects on the surveys conducted by Cambridge University in 2023. According to the survey, 78% of the students became motivated thanks to chance of being uncharged for university education. Moreover, they mentioned that they wouldn’t be keen on studying more than enough, if university education became free for all individuals.
In conclusion, getting free university education might result in economic downturns, since a big amonut of yearly income come from this institution. In addition, people wouldn’t fight for the best, if they know that the education is free of charge in any case.
