In comparison to the previous generations, children nowadays have become more independent. I consider this as a positive trend due to the lessons they might learn from their own mistakes and learn how to value things.
One of the major benefits teenagers can get from being independent is lessons. Parents have always been victims of their children’s mistakes. However, now as the young generation has freedom of choice and has become more independent, they themselves will face the consequences if they do something wrong. By giving teenagers the choice to make the decision, they can think about the consequences and make the right decision wisely. In doing so, parents can prepare their children for the future. In the best case, if teenagers make the right decision, next time they will know what to do. But at worst, they will learn from their mistakes and consider them next time.
Another positive consequence that might result in independence children have these days is valuing things. In other words, in the past if children did something bad, adults would always pay for their actions. Nevertheless, if teenagers pay for their actions, they might see how much damage they may have done. They could feel the pain. For example, if children knew how much yellings their parents get from their dissatisfied behavior at school, without any thoughts they would behave themselves properly. This is because no one knows the pain till they feel it. Over time, this would influence not only their future, but how to value things as well.
In conclusion, I believe by giving children more freedom, they as a result might learn from their own experience by making mistakes. Therefore, I think this is a positive development.
