Band 5+: Public libraries should provide books and not waste their limited resources on expensive high-tech media such as software, videos or Dvds. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is often argued that the public libraries should spend only on buying new books instead of wasting on other latest technology gadgets such as videos, DVD, etc. I completely disagree with this opinion and thinks that money should be spent more on latest advancements instead of paper books.

Firstly, in the world of growing advancements everyone is used to consume knowledge in mobiles, tablets, computers, etc as it makes the learning process easy. Also, it will be faster to grasp if we learn with the help of some animated videos instead of long written books. For instance, a recent study shows that a student who uses youtube, DVD understands the concept in shorter time as compared to others with books. Thus, it will be highly recommended to spend the resources on these high-tech medias.

Secondly, all books need some adequate level of maintenance in order to protect it from worms and other insects. In other words, paper books will be comparatively costlier than e-books and needs to be protected properly. For example, a person can read book from his/her home without going to library with the help of e-book feature.

To conclude, government should spend money on making all public libraries with adequate amount of technology gadgets without any discrepancy to anyone for spreading knowledge to every citizen of the country.
