The given maps illustrate the changes in the city plan of Sholeaton between 1985 and 2015.
From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the town became more entertainment with the expansion of the park, more residential with additional housing areas, and more commercial with the construction of restaurants and the extension of the existing shopping center. Additionally, the town embraced greener initiatives by planting numerous trees and improved accessibility by introducing a bicycle park, adding a lane for cyclists, and installing pedestrian crossings. The library and the bus station were relocated from their previous place. Meanwhile, the main road and some shops were the only features that remained unchanged throughout the period.
In 1985, there was a park located in the northwest of the map. By 2015, it had been expanded and the trees planted along the north side of the park. The swimming pool adjacent to the park was converted into a library and also shrank in size. The cafe on the left side of the map was demolished to make way for a fountain. Trees were planted and an L shaped restaurant was constructed instead of removing the shops which were situated below the cafe. However, the shops covering the north and west sides of the cafe remained untouched. The existing bus station was removed because of broadening the shopping center. More houses were built on the east side of the shopping center. At the south west of the city layout, there was the car park which remained unchanged throughout the period. By 2015, the bicycle park and bus station had been added. The building of the previous library was transformed into a business center. In addition, the main road which crossed along the eastern part of the city did not change, but some alterations were made like installing the pedestrian crossing and constructing a cycle lane next to it.
