It is argued that nowadays there is a dependency of human toward the usage of computer technology on communications, medicine and transport system. As a result, it has created a dangerous situation. This essay disagrees that the computerization on those fields has created an environment that is more efficient and minimum of human error.
Firstly, it is evident that the adoption of computer-based technology had led to the advancement on those sectors that make them more efficient to operate. The recent ability to treat cancer for example, is derived from the development of devices that can detect cancer on its early stage. Computer can make it possible because its ability to predict based on recognized pattern.
Furthermore, beside making the work easier, it also helps to reduce errors caused by human. Computerized mechanisms able to make the process precise and accurate. In medicinal field, for instance, the measurement of each ingredients to make a medicine for patient with certain illness needs a thorough calculation. Wrong formula and ingredients can worsen patient condition. Therefore, computer-based system helps to minimize the risk, in contrast with humans when they manually conduct the process. It is also applicable in transportation system, it is quite impossible when human does all the work manually to regulate the traffic light in the entire city.
In conclusion, I believe that human can conduct their work in communications, medicine and transportation field become more efficient and minimal of risks, thanks to the utilization of computer-based technology in those respective field. Therefore, I do not agree that dependency can bring dangerous situation, as long as it is used wisely and not used to override human’s common sense.
