Band 6+: Some toddlers are using mobile phones fro hours each day. Why is this the case? Is it a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some toddlers spend several hours a day using mobile phones. This is because parents nowadays tend to provide children with mobiles to keep their children entertained. Spending time using phones can lead to positive outcomes because of educational applications, which are available for children.

Parents try to entertain their children by allowing them to use mobile phones for hours. The reason for this practice is the lack of time parents can spend to be with their toddlers and entertain them by themselves. Electronic gadgets such as mobile phones or tablets are the perfect tools for toddlers who do not receive the proper attention from their parents, because of various entertaining content. For example, when the child feels bored, he can easily access interesting content, without interrupting his busy mother.

There are positive sides of spending several hours using phones because of the variety of useful educational apps. Children at the ages of 2-3 require an everyday portion of knowledge about the world for their development, and the growing trend of educational apps for children has become highly beneficial. Through using these applications, toddlers have the opportunity to learn new things in an engaging way. For example, some children’s applications help toddlers to develop crucial for their age abilities such as differentiating colors and learning numbers and letters by entertaining games.

Giving mobile phones to toddlers is increasing in popularity nowadays. It is really helping busy parents to entertain their children in a convenient way for them. Furthermore, the existence of some children’s educational applications influences toddlers’ overall development and is highly advantageous for both children and their parents.
