Overall, it is obvious that households owning a car witnessed an uptrend ward, while the counter trend was seen in having no car and over 2 cars. Moreover, 1971 and 2001 has highest percent and the earlier year also get the lowest percent.
In 1971, the percentage of families that have no car stood at below half percent , and that of owning no car and more than 2 cars were nearly 35% and 25%. After 10 years, a slightly fall to about 40% in the proprotion of households with no car, while that of the remaining two types were seen a increase of merely 10%.
In 1991 to 2001, after an decrease to the same percent in 1971, the percentage of owning a car in families went up significantly to the highest point, just under 50%.That of households owning the largest number of cars also followed that trend with 30% in 1991 and below 40% in last year, while the remain type families just went down of approximately 5%.
