Overall, the percentage of private lawyers is higher in the year 2016 than in 2001. Furthermore, the difference between genders was small in 2001; however, the percentage of female lawyers had increased over that of male lawyers in three groups, including private, business, and government, in 2016.
In 2001, while the government sector had the highest percentage for men and women, with 45% and 41%, respectively, the business sector was the lowest at 14% each. Moreover, the number of women was slightly higher than that of men in the last two fields. The female percentage had risen 2% in the private and other sectors.
In 2016, despite the proportion in government also being the highest, the proportion for men decreased 2% and women climbed 1%. On the other hand, females inclined to 21% in private and business sectors, while the figure for males dropped to 19% and 14%, respectively. Ultimately, others went up for males, approaching 29%, while for females, it went down half point from the past, reaching 16%.
