The bar graph illustrates the proportion of three different categories of Australian children participating in four types of activities in 2012.

Overall, it is noticeable that children’s preferred activity was watching TV while reading and riding the bike were moderately common among them. However, art was the lowest participated activity.

Watching TV was the highest activity that kids took part in, with children from 12 to 16 years old comprising the highest percentage overall, with just under 100% while those from 9 to 11 and 5 to 8 years old took up around 95% and 85%, respectively. The next significant category was riding a bike, with nearly 80% for the highest age group. However, children from 5-8 years old consisted approximately 77% while the next group of kids was the lowest in this category with just over 60%.

Children who preferred to read comprised a moderate proportion. Those from 9 to 11 years old and 12 to 16 years old were equal in the participation rate, with around 70% while kids from 5 to 8 years old took up just over 60%. As the age of kids was increasing, the participation in the art group decreased slightly, reaching about half in the 12 to 16 age group.
