The two bar graphs above provide information on the time spent on two pastimes of reading for pleasure and listening to music across different age groups.
It can be clearly seen that the time spent on reading increases according to age. While young people below 25 years old only spend 20 minutes a day for this pastime, their seniors reading enthusiasts allocate longer time, with middle aged readers in their 40s and 50s reading for 50 minutes and 70 minutes respectively. In contrast to reading, time spent on listening to music by young aged group is the longest at 80 minutes, 4 times higher than that of reading. Meanwhile the oldest group also almost share the same length of time with only a modest gap. People from 35 to 44 years old allocate equal time of approxiately 45 minutes for both reading and music listening on a daily basis.
From abovementioned figures, senior residents have the tendency to spend the longest time for pastimes like reading and listening to music. This could be attributed to the abundant amount of free time available. Out of the two pastimes, listening to music is more popular to younger population below 35 years old.
