The line graph illustrates data about wheat exports from four different regions—Australia, Canada, and European community from 1985 to 1990. All units are measured in millions of tons.
Overall, while Canada’s export was the highest in the initial year, it remained unchanged in 1990, albeit with some fluctuations. It is also worth noting that the figure for Australia declined steadily, prior to a slight increase in 1985. Conversely, European community increased throughout the period.
Examining the data in more detail, Canada’s wheat exports declined steadily from approximately 19 million tons to 17 million tons in 1986. In stark contrast, the figure for Canada peaked at a staggering 25 million tons in 1988, before plummeting to roughly 14 million tons in 1989, and a figure that then returned to its initial trajectory by the end of the period.
Regarding the other two regions, Australia accounted for the lowest at 15million tons of wheat export in 1985, which was 2 million tons lower than that of European community. Australia’s wheat exports saw a negligible rise to 16 million tons in 1986, whereas the export rate in European community declined slightly to 14 million. Subsequently, the amount of wheat exported from Australia dropped to 11 million tons by 1989, and plateaued by the end of the period. Meanwhile, the export rate in European community rose sharply to about 21 million tons by 1989, and dominated this chart.
