But still, I firmly believe that there are a number of skills that cannot learn a school. And one of that is self-awareness. As we know, this skill belongs to the heart-growing of social skills. It is the ability to understand your own thoughts, feelings and behaviors. And to my point, it impacts what one has on others. Unlike academic knowledge, science, math, science, or history, this skill requires more hands-on practice and experience to develop, to learn self-awareness. You can start by basing attention to your own thoughts, emotions and reflecting on how you are feeling and why. You can also practice mindfulness meditation which involves focusing on the breathing moment and developing a sense of observation and accepting of your own thoughts and feelings. However, learning self-awareness is not something that happens. Overnight, it takes time and practice. It requires a willingness to be honest and open-wit yourself and a willingness to confront the uncomfortable, difficult emotions and tone may arise. This process can take months or even years and it may vary for different individuals. I think it’s important to learn self-awareness because it can help us to understand ourselves better, improve our communication and relationship with others, and make smarter and more informed users.
