I always consider myself to be active, always engaging in physical activities. However, my favorite activity is weirdly a mental and intellectual one, which is chess. Chess is a game where you move the pieces on an 8x8 board in order to gain material by capturing pieces and winning the game by checkmating the king. It's often unbelievable to me how such a so-called hyperactive person like me could sit in a chair, quiet and unmoving, to focus on such a mental game. It all started when I was in kindergarten. At that time, my grandfather used to teach me chess and play with me every afternoon to keep my mind active at all times. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to find many helpful websites like chess.com, for example, so I could learn from puzzles and battle with other players. Chess is actually my favorite sport because of the benefits it has brought to me. To start off, it's a counterbalance to the physical inclinations I have throughout my day. When playing a chess game, players are so focused that they have to sit quietly and unmoving in the chair, staying there for minutes and even hours. Lastly, it serves as psychological training for me. When playing a chess game, I can determine whether my opponent is nervous or not and make a bluff to psychologically take advantage of them.

You know, I always consider myself to be active, always engaging in physical activities. However, my favorite activity is weirdly a mental and intellectual one, which is chess. Well, chess is a game that you move the pieces on an 8×8 board in order to gain material by capturing pieces. And winning the game by checkmating the king. It’s often unbelievable to me how such a so-called hyperactive person like me could, you know, sit in a chair, quiet, and unmoving to focus on such a mental piece of game. It all started when I was just in kindergarten. At that time, my grandfather used to teach me chess and play with me every afternoon for the sake of keeping my mind active at all times. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to find many helpful websites like chess.com, for example, so I could learn from puzzles and battling with other players. And chess is actually my favorite sport because of the merits it brought to me. You know, to start off, it’s actually a counterbalance to the physical inclinations that I have to run my day. Because when playing a chess game, players would be so focused that they have to sit quiet and unmoving in the chair and stay there for minutes and even hours. Lastly, it serves as a psychological training for me. You know, when playing a chess game, I can determine whether my opponent is nervous or not, and make a bluff in order to psychologically take advantage of them.
