That was a beauty product which was claimed to dramatically improve skin condition and it featured a well-known media personality that was applying the skin product and transforming into a person with a perfect skin. I came across this ad while scrolling through social media and this on my Instagram as this algorithm picked up on my interest in skin care, this beauty product seemed to frequently arise on my social media. And which I really detested about this advertisement, how misleading it was. The product was being presented as a miracle solution that would particularly eliminate all the imperfections and impurities of the skin and promising the result seemed too good to be true. And this dramatic transformation was being presented as a quick fix, persuading an increasing number of people to purchase it as fast as possible. Additionally, the influencer’s flawless skin within a short period of time made me question of how much the transformation was due to editing and filters, resins and beauty products. I find it really frustrating since it played on people’s insecurity as they, while persuading them to buy this product as soon as possible and claiming that they would need this product. However, it did not acknowledge that our skin requires consistent care and it felt more like sales tactic rather than the product with real value and people just were tempted by that.
