While it's difficult to give a definitive answer, I'd say that in India, a significant portion of the population lives in houses rather than apartments. This is likely due to a combination of factors. India's climate, often hot and humid, makes living in suburban areas with more space and greenery appealing. Additionally, many Indians prefer a more traditional lifestyle, which often involves living in houses with extended families. While cities offer amenities and opportunities, many people prioritize a peaceful and calm environment, which they find more readily available in suburban areas. This allows them to enjoy the benefits of both urban and rural living.
