The book that I am reading these days is Sense and Sensibility. The author is Jane Austen. I love Jane Austen’s books because she has talked about the social norms that persisted back then in the 18th century and specifically according to this book matrimony has been a central part or a central factor in a woman’s life. According to this book the story goes around a family called the Dashwood family and through the book we can see the social lens and how a woman is being forced to get married to a man who has a great financial stability. The mother of this particular story wants to find great partners for the daughters because she has the social pressure that she gets from the neighbors and also from the other members of the family. Some of the themes that I have figured out in this book are love, matrimony, social pressure, social expectations and also financial stability. The suitors that come from different parts of the world will try to get the hand of these two girls but Elina would mostly use her brain whereas Marion uses her heart when she finds her partner. Therefore this book is a lovely book and I would recommend this book to anyone because it gives a great message at the end of the book of how a woman can use both the heart and the brain when finding a partner.
