So the only test that was available in my country was IELTS. This is why I had to take it in Damascus, Syria. It took me about three hours in total to be tested on four main English skills, which are reading, listening, speaking and writing. The first day I was tested on three skills, which are reading, listening and writing. The next day I was tested on speaking only. The duration of the total duration of the test was about three hours. I think that it actually can prove that I can fluently speak English and listen carefully. But in terms of writing and reading, I think that it needs to be adjusted to be a better indicator for my language level. For example, I only have 60 minutes to read about five or six texts and answer about 60 questions, which is not, I think it’s an indicator of how I manage my time, carefully not how I read in English. The same goes for writing. I only have one hour to write two essays and one of them is a formal one. So I think that in these two skills, I don’t feel like it was a good indicator.
